February and March has been pretty damn fresh!

Myka 9 and The Cyclops Music Collective 02/20/2010

On February 20th we had a show with Myka 9 of Freestyle fellowship. Myka 9 is not only a pioneer, but at one point in my hip hop life my biggest musical influence. Now he is on a label of a current huge influence of mine, both musically and hustle wise, Ceschi. Underground hip hop wouldn't be what it is today without such single monstrous entities such as these and all the amazing independent pioneers that exist in their networks and foundations. From Japan, to Germany and France, to HI they all have made Hip Hop what it is today.

But back to my point. The Myka 9 show at the Calabash in PDX went off well. The place was packed, the vibe was great, and the music was POPPIN! It was a Cyclops Collective showcase for a tour that was completed despite complications on the road.

The Cyclops CD Release Party @ The Ash Street Saloon 03/06/2010

What can I say. I love the Ash Street! At about 10:30, there was standing room only and we had to open the double doors, because it was so hot!

I really have to give it to all of our artists, friends, family, and fans for making this night a night to remember.

There were performances by ate21, Moodswing, Guerillacillin, Basic Shapes, Salmon River Project, Solos from all the Cyclops artists, a full set from our guests Quixotic and features from Devin Hoover, Krista Herring, and Calmpleks (Facts Machine).

I am still feeling high from the support that we received.

Here is some video from the night.

P. T. Benefit Show 03/14/2010

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures or flyers for this show. I have to really give to all the people that made this show what it was through their own blood, sweat, and tears. I also have to mention that the man who we came together to support on this night is truly one of the most amazing Mofos that I have ever had the honor of knowing in my time on this planet. I look forward to many more years of work with him.

The show was primarily spread through word of mouth. The room was a new larger community hall styled room at Roots Brewery and it was packed. The first thing I remember thinking at the door was, "hmmmm it smells like a birthday at the Pukalani Community Center in Maui." Then the next thing I automatically said without hesitation was, "Where is the Kalua Pig, Chicken Long Rice, and Lomi Lomi Salmon?"

Moodswing gets much props for this one! He was one of the organizers of the night along with Wendi who held it together very nicely. Megan ran the silent auction with grace. Kevin, Julie, Erovick, Tash, April and many others held down the door like those statues on The Never Ending Story. The donations came from too many people and stores to mention. Roots also showed their support and once again proved that they are an upstanding establishment. Can't wait till the Organic Brewfest.

Keep One Eye Open (10/2009 - 03/2010)

We would like to thank all of the venues that have had us and all of the people who have supported us since the first introduction of "The Cyclops" to PDX.

We had our first collective show on Nov. 7th, 2009 at the Ash Street Saloon (Burnside and SW 3rd Ave). Originally planned to be a showcase, it was turned into a benefit after, collective member, Bobby Bear had a bicycling accident. The "Save the Grill Benefit" gave much needed support to one of our crew and we thank you all again for your support. Much love to the Sound Lady.

In December we rocked a free show at The Roots Brewery (Hawthorne and SE 7th Ave). Thanks for coming out and thank you Roots for hooking up the red beer special. We look forward to performing there again. Happy B-Day Trez the merch girl!

In January we branched out and tried a new venue, The Calabash (Taylor and SW 3rd Ave). It was a new experience in a more intimate setting. Much love to all the folks that came out and made it a good show. Top Ramen and Free Tickets to upcoming shows were all floating around that night.

But we still got more to go!!! We got some great shows coming up soon, and we would love to see you at them.

Upcoming Cyclops Shows for February and March.

Feb 20th The Cyclops w/ Myka 9 and The Upper Echelon Tour (C Chan and Boom Bap Bullies) + LXOR (7$)

March 6th The Cyclops CD Release Party w/ guests Quixotic (5$)
